A support service open to all parents and caregivers of children and youth who are past or current clients (18 years and under) with physical, developmental, and/or communicative delays or disabilities. This program offers an opportunity to speak directly with an experienced Centre parent (a parent employed by Niagara Children’s Centre), who understands Centre services, available supports, and everyday general realities Centre families face. They will provide practical support and problem-solving related to raising a child with physical, developmental, and/or communicative delays or disabilities.
Examples of reasons you may want to talk with a Centre Parent:
- Interested in learning about Parent and Caregiver Supports at the Centre
- Parents and caregivers with questions about specific community options (example: dentist, optometrist, community programs, equipment)
- Everyday parenting questions that are specific to parenting a child with a disability (example: what do I do when my child outgrows size 7 diapers? Adaptive clothing, playgrounds, blood draw)
- Looking for a connection
Appointments allow for up to 45 minutes to speak with the Centre Parent via Microsoft Teams (virtual) or by phone. Book a time to talk with a Centre parent.
