Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA)

Days of Significance Calendar

We value the diverse identities, experiences, perspectives, and abilities of the children, youth, families, staff, board members, and community partners who make up our community.

The calendar provides opportunities for learning, reflection, recognition and celebration, while helping us better understand and appreciate the diverse experiences, identities and perspectives within our community. It is curated by our EDIA Committee as a resource to support meaningful engagement throughout the year.

Note: Select days may vary by a few days before or after the indicated date due to the observance of the lunar calendar for some cultures/faiths and time zones.

Start of 2SLGBTQIA+ History Month

October is 2SLGBTQIA+ History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the histories, contributions, resilience and achievements of 2SLGBTQIA+ people and communities.

It is also an opportunity to reflect on the barriers and discrimination 2SLGBTQIA+ people have experienced and continue to face, while recognizing the advocates and community members who have helped advance inclusion, equality and human rights.

At Niagara Children’s Centre, we believe every child, youth and family deserves to feel welcomed, respected and valued. Throughout October, we invite our community to learn, listen and celebrate the diverse identities and experiences that make our community stronger.

We all have a role to play in creating spaces where everyone can be themselves, feel a sense of belonging and participate fully.
