The calendar provides opportunities for learning, reflection, recognition and celebration, while helping us better understand and appreciate the diverse experiences, identities and perspectives within our community. It is curated by our EDIA Committee as a resource to support meaningful engagement throughout the year.

Orthodox Good Friday
Good Friday, the Friday before Easter, observes the commemoration of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Good Friday is observed as a day of sorrow, penance, and fasting, a characteristic that finds expression in the German word Karfreitag (“Sorrowful Friday”). In the Eastern Orthodox calendar, which uses a different calculation, Easter often falls later.
