Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA)

Days of Significance Calendar

We value the diverse identities, experiences, perspectives, and abilities of the children, youth, families, staff, board members, and community partners who make up our community.

The calendar provides opportunities for learning, reflection, recognition and celebration, while helping us better understand and appreciate the diverse experiences, identities and perspectives within our community. It is curated by our EDIA Committee as a resource to support meaningful engagement throughout the year.

Note: Select days may vary by a few days before or after the indicated date due to the observance of the lunar calendar for some cultures/faiths and time zones.

Stuttering Awareness Day

Stuttering Awareness Day

International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD) is observed annually on October 22 to raise awareness and educate people about stuttering, a speech disorder that affects millions of individuals worldwide. The day serves as an opportunity to support those who stutter, break down misconceptions, and promote understanding and empathy. ISAD highlights the importance of early intervention, research, and speech therapy while advocating for the rights and inclusion of individuals who stutter in all aspects of society. Events, campaigns, and discussions are held globally to foster a more inclusive environment where those affected by stuttering can communicate with confidence.
