Focus Group: After-School Programs

Focus Group: After-School Programs

We are working with more youth and their families than ever before. We often hear from families that they wish there was more inclusive programming available to their school-age children and support available for themselves as parents and we couldn’t agree more!

We are looking to improve and expand our catalogue of free activities and events for all youth and their families. This includes youth with diagnosed or identified physical, developmental, and communicative delays and disabilities up to age 18, regardless of whether the youth is an active Centre client.

We strive for youth (with all abilities) to have the opportunity to participate in free activities and events that are fun and engaging, while providing opportunities for fitness and friendships. As well, we want parents/caregivers of youth to have opportunities to connect with each other and learn about ways to support their children as they grow and change.

We need your help to tell us what you would hope this looks like and what you would like to see for yourself as well. Join us for our focus group on Monday, May 1 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Details below:

Youth (ages 8 to 18) are invited to: Join us in participating in collective games and activities while answering questions to gain insight into interests, wants and needs for future programming and events.

Parents/Caregivers of youth ages 8 to 18 are invited to: Join us in participating in a guided conversation with staff and fellow parents and caregivers to gain insight into interests, wants and needs for future programming and events.

The end goal of the focus groups is to use the ideas we collect to inform our programs beginning in Sept 2023.

Refreshments and snacks are to be provided. Skilled support is available for the youth focus group which will be held in a separate room.

Unable to attend but would like to participate? Please email Stephanie Hicks and you can be provided with an opportunity for a one-on-one phone call or virtual survey after the focus group date.
